After securing approvals, in the first half of the launch, WhatsApp Payments can have up to 20 million - 20 crore users. As of now, Google Pay and Walmart-owned PhonePe, are the primarily used UPI service. Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, etc., have feared WhatsApp's entry in mobile payment transactions for a long time.

This is because of WhatsApp, which is 40 crore - monthly active users in India. Now that it has started UPI payments, they will be able to draw more customers. It will increase competition in the market.
